Yip...... it's gonna be a quiet one!

Most people we know are out at restaurants or having some family/friend get together for New Years Eve! Aren't we boring(teehee), we are alone at home blogging and surfing! But we're doing it together! The kids are running around outside, screaming their lungs out and we are sipping on a good red wine. Lamb chops are sizzling on the braai.

Happy New Year
to all my special Blogging friends. May God bless your 2008 with abundant love, contagious laughter, mindblowing surprises, incredible joy and true inner peace.

A meander worth doing..........

We had a wonderful day. We ventured out into the country and did 'The Midlands Meander.' I would love to have seen a whole lot more of the area, but with 2 active boys, and one very 'in your face ' daughter,(none of whom care an inch about culture) , that was not to be!

The Midlands Meander is summed up beautifully in this quote. "So put away your watch, switch off the cellphone. Pack a bag or two, leaving space for inevitable new acquisitions, and escape. There is a life away from the fast lane of the highway, the boardroom, the committee meetings, the tunnels of the malls."
It is absolutely beautiful. The shops are quaint and have loads of character.

But firstly we had to eat, because MrGee went into 'Grumpy Dad' mode(A name he gave himself!) Lack of food does this to him. We have learnt to stay away from him when he is hungry. A delicious lunch of Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding at Rawdons Guest House did the trick.

After Lunch we visted some of the roadside shops. My favourite was a Ceramic Art Gallery called Ardmore.

All the art is hand-crafted and painted by the local Zulu people. Each piece is unique, there are not two alike!

My absolute favourite was this lady bug bowl. It cost a cool R10 000.00 (+-$1700)!!!! When we saw the prices we quickly ushered Tanzi out of the gallery.

Happy New Year!

Linking via phone to the internet got me down, and made me rather distant. Sorry!
But I am back! So much has happened in the past couple of weeks, that I am not to sure where to start!
When in doubt, post pics!

A Happy New Year to you all, and may 2008 be simply great!!

Our home ..... once a brothel?

So here is more of our 65 year old Manor house that we bought and have just moved into. I found out today, that 30 odd years ago, it used to be a house of ill repute!!! No wonder we have SO many bedrooms!

This is the view as you stand at the main entrance.

When you walk in alittle, you are able to see the open plan kitchen and formal lounge. I do think the formal lounge is about to become rather unformal though!!!!

Below is a view from the formal lounge of the open plan kitchen.

Below.... I love the fact that I can interact with the family as I cook!

I love period homes. This one has been fashioned in the Tudor style externally, with a classical approach being used internally. The old elements are obvious, and we LOVE that!

I'm a gamester!

WizzKid sold his PS2 a month ago along with numerous games and other add ons.
His goal......... to save up for a PS3.

THEN...... he encountered the Wii ! Like that he jumped ship, and dumped the PS3 !
"Mom, you should see the Wii, it is totally interactive and SOOOOO much fun!"
"Ya,Ya,Ya son. I'm not that interested in computer games, but I'm happy for you."

After having had the Wii for a couple of days, WizzKid eventually roped me into a game of tennis. I thought I would humour him, be the fun-loving Mom and finally get him off my back.

WELL....... I'm hooked! The boys are so frustrated with me hogging the tennis court and using their wireless remotes, that they've asked me to go and buy my own! The cheek of it! teehee

More change coming......

Yes-siree-bob!
Next year we will not be homeschooling. The boys miraculously got places in a wonderful private christian school just up the road, and I have found a small play group for Tanzi to go to 3 mornings a week. I am going to miss the interaction and fun we all had together as we learnt! The past 3 years have been wonderful, and I don't think this is going to be the end of our homeschooling journey, but I do feel that because we have moved provences, the kids need to be in a school environment to make some friends.
CoolDude is extremely excited, and can't wait to get a proper school bag and uniform. WizzKid says he wants to play every sport that is offered!

So what am I going to do with all this extra time on my hands? I have decided to have an 'Esther Year'.
Just as Esther had to prepare for 12 months before she was presented to the King, I have decided, that I need to take time out, to sit at God's feet and listen to His voice. I also want to take better care of myself and get healthy, fit and slim again.

I can't wait for 2008!

As promised.............

........pics of our new house.
This is our driveway leading up to the main entrance and a shot of the garden on the entrance side. As soon as the house has been cleared of all it's boxes, I will welcome you inside.

The benefit of living in a complex/cluster development, is that you feel much safer. Notice I say feel, as this type of living can also create a false sense of security. We are going to put in an alarm(with armed response) and security gates on all the outside doors. That's what you need to do in this country!

I am very happy to be 'home'. So is Tanzi (it seems!)...... here she is showing us one of her karate moves!

We are finally in our new home!

Not unpacked................... but at least in!
WizzKid, Tanzi and I travelled down on Friday. CoolDude, MrGee and Dash(the cat) followed the next day. I think Hubby/MrGee got the better deal. The cat couldn't have been more demanding then our little miss Tanzi!
At one point she screamed "I need a wee-wee!" In S.Africa it is not safe to stop at the road side for your dearest to relieve him or herself. After much persuasion from Tanzi, that 'the wee is coming out' I realised I needed to make a plan and I roped WizzKid in! Poor guy.
I gave WizzKid a plastic packet, and told him to place Tanzi's legs in the packet handles and pull the packet way up so that she could wee into it! He then had to tie the packet up for later disposal.
He was such a help, but I did hear him murmur 'gross' and 'this is disgusting!'

I took some pics of the outside of our new house, but I can't find the flippin' camera cord to upload the images! Bummer!

Drop by soon...... I promise to post some pics!
