Momma's a hit!

If I start to reminisce about my childhood, the happy moments come to mind. I can't say I remember alot, but there are some! Hubby on the other hand remembers having loads of fun, alot of the time. His Mom has always been so lively, energetic and a great tease!! She has the knack of making a mundane task into an exciting adventure! Hubby has that same gift but I have to work very hard at having fun. It does not come easily to me!

One of my favourites is to have dinner under the table! I usually spring it on them, and plan it when Hubby is away! I wander why? teehee...... On Tuesday night, when Hubby was out of town, we had a picnic on the lounge floor and watched the old movie... "Look who's talking". My kids were over the moon!

I want my kids to remember having oooooodles of fun with their Momma!

PS......... I did clean the carpet before we settled beneath the dining table!!!!!!! Give this a try, your kids will be shocked that you even suggested such a thing!

Oooh! I do this too when GAP is away! We'll have pizza at the coffee table watching a movie, or instead of using napkins, we will use paper towel.
And some nights, they get to sleep on mattresses in my room, staying up late (if it's the weekend and dad is out of town) watching a movie or cartoons.
Being (harmlessly) naughty - I always tell them "when the cat's away, the mice come out to play! ;-)

I love it! I want to try it too. I think we would be slightly crowded with all 10 of us under the table though. I try to be fun also, but life sometimes makes me a little staid. My mom was great fun also, I should have learned better.

fifi,

What a great idea! I'll have to try this one with my kiddos. They will LOVE it! And, they'll be completely surprised.

I know just how you feel. I have to force myself to be a fun person with my kids. I don't know why, but I sure am trying :)

I'm excited to see your new home. At least what I hope is your new home...any word on your bid?? I'll bet you're so excited to be moving back "home"!!

love, beth

What fun! I can assure you that my two would faint dead away if I set dinner underneath the table. LOL. It would be funny to just do it and then yell for them to come and eat. I'll have to try that and get a picture of their faces.

Blessings,
Lori

I'm so surprised to hear that you have to work at being fun. You come across as a naturally cheerful and fun living person. I often think when I'm reading your blog that I would like to have your passion and enthusiasm.

Keep having fun!
Tammy

We do crazy stunts when daddy is away as well. :-)

While we have picnic-ed in the outside and in the living room, the thought of under the table had never occurred to me! My boys would love it! I'll have to try that tomorrow for lunch. Hubby is away until tomorrow night.

While I do fun things with my children, it really is not in my nature. I have to work at it. I am content being a homebody and getting lost in a book. For some reason, that is not exciting to my three boys! ;-)

Besides, their smiles are worth the effort! It won't be long before the simple things aren't quite as amusing anymore. They grow up and get serious way too quickly!

*lol* That does look fun! Growing up it was the opposite at our house, though... When MOM was away DAD would let us play! :)

"Rural" means cows, lots of farmland, lots of trees... About six hours away from NYC, the nearest cities with malls are about 45 minutes away. The town we live on the outskirts of is TECHNICALLY a city, but it seems like just a town to me. :) Is he looking at NYC for business? Thanks for the visit... I'll admit, I've been lurking here for a while :)
