A Taste of Russia.

We ended the term well and strong!..... We had a wonderful get together with the MacMillans. Both of our families have been learning about Russia from the Sonlight Core 5 Curriculum. Each kid had to "Choose their Adventure."

CoolDude drew the St. Basils Cathedral in pastels and kokis(felt tips)

WizzKid made a time line of Russia .............

Miss C. did her project on The Matroyska Doll ......

And Mr K. did his on the Cossack Dancers .......

Then we listened to Tchaikovsky on my laptop, and I played a short piano piece by this magnificent composer ....... "The Sugar plum Fairies".

To end it all .... we enjoyed a deeelishious Russian meal .... Beef Stroganoff.

We'r on holiday for THREE weeks now! YAHOOOOOOOO .....

In need of a break ......

One more sleep and school closes for three well deserved weeks! I told MrGee that I'm looking forward to the break more than the kids.
We have had a very busy term, but the boys have kept to their schedules and have done some great work ...... besides the odd day we have all been very productive. CoolDude's swimming is coming on in leaps and bounds , and I have a feeling he is going to excel in this sport.
WizzKid has received brilliant marks for his BIDC (British International Distance College) assignments. He is loving this homeschooling course.

To end off the term, we are having a get together with another homeschooling family it's called "A Taste of Russia."

Our Colourful Lion.

Two lions stand at the main entrance of our house. Initially they were just a cement colour, but two weeks ago I asked the gardener to paint them white, hoping that they might look a little better. Well I was wrong ..... they looked even more odd. I nick-named them our 'ghost lions' !

Then I hit on the idea ..... Why not let Tanzi transform them with her painting!

She had a ball ....... for two days she was intent on making this lion "the best in the world!"

So Tanzi's 'gargoyle' stands proudly at our front door, waiting to be admired by all those who pass by!!

Best friends .....

This is Miss Tanzi(on right) with her best friend Tayla.
They have such a sweet relationship. I know Tanzi is going to be devastated when Tayla immigrates to Australia. Tanzi told me the other day ....... "Tayla says I can go with her." They are that close.

It is so sad to see our kiddies friendships being torn apart. It is said that kids are resilient, they rebound quickly!Perhaps most kids just know that ," Yes, I know children are meant to be resilient, but it surprises me when Tanzi(age 4) still asks "When will we see Tamar again?" (Tamar was a very close friend of Tanzi who left for Australia 2 years ago!)
Resilient ?...... I think they experience the same emotions that we, us adults, experience! I believe these 'small' events effect them more than we'll ever know!

Tiggy has a home!

As you know Tiggy-Pooh has been a very naughty kitty(not!) and we have been pushed into finding him a suitable home outside of our estate! Everything within me has wanted to object to this, but I made a decision to agree with MrGee and to find him a new home. (Boy, has this been hard!)
~
I am delighted to announce that Tigz is going to live with my Aunty Lynn and Uncle Terry, about 25 minutes away. So at least we'll get to see him every second month or so! They lost a cat 6 months ago and seem quite keen on sharing their hearts and home with our Tiggy-Pooh!

Horses with what?

Mr CoolDude is one funny guy! He sees things from a different angle and always keeps us entertained with his unique sayings. At the age of three/four he exclaimed after seeing cows grazing in a field, "Look horses with horns!" This has become a family favorite ..... and a holiday would be incomplete without a family member quoting these words of CoolDude.

This morning CoolDude was given the task of writing a short story. He is a maths boy so English is not his best!
After being told to revise his 'hook'(the beginning), then his ending and lastly the 'body' of his story, he was shattered!! After about an hour he literally flung the book on my desk and declared , "That was the most agonizing hour of my life!"

Have a fab weekend!!

Priceless ......

Me: "So what do you want to do when you get big?"

Miss Tanzi : " I will steal people's money!"

Me : "That's not very nice sweetie."

Miss Tanzi :" No, I'll ask them first ..... and if they don't give it to me then I'll just take it!"

MrGee : "Okay ..... so you're gonna be a banker!"
