No Ordinary Child.

I have just finished reading a book of note .... "NO ORDINARY CHILD" by Denise Mira. She has been a homeschooling mom to 5 vibrant and strong willed boys. Her book is filled with a lot of practical advice and excellent biblical insights into the Moses Generation that needs to come forth! She speaks straight from the heart on how to unlock the leader within your child and she is not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. (Just my kinda gal!)
"At times when God wants to reveal something to me that's going to shift my paradigm, it can make me angry. When I'm offended, what needs to change in me is revealed. I've found that God offends my mind in order to reveal what's in my heart."[Denise Mira]

This book is very challenging on a practical level. I could go on an' on , but I suggest you just grab yourself a copy and ENJOY!

Hairy Maclary and Slinky Malinky!

When WizzKid(my eldest) was 4, I came across a very sweet series of books in the local library. We laughed as we read and re-read the antics of a mischievous dog named HAIRY MACLARY. They were a hit with CoolDude, and now Twinkle can't put them down. The author is Lynley Dodd. She has also written a series on a cat called SLINKY MALINKY. They are definately my favourite choice for a bed time story!

2Great books!

I am reading two very different books at the same time! The pink one on the left is by Julie-Ann Barnhill and is called Radical Forgiveness. The other is by John C. Maxwell and is called Dare to Dream....... then DO IT.

Julie-Ann Barnhill was the guest speaker at a ladies weekend I went to a couple of months ago. I have never laughed so much in my entire life. She is just so real and extremely funny! We all have hurts, regrets and failures and lack of forgiveness in our lives........ Julie makes you realise that we all mess up often! In fact she encourages you to repeat the sentence... "I am a mess of magnificent proportions!"

I mentioned that I have felt an urgency to be more responsible with my giftings and talents. The John Maxwell book is challenging me in SO many areas of my life. It is to the point and extremely motivating. The U.S President Thedore Roosevalt said..... "Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."

That's it for now!

I Have Life!

I have just finished a brilliant book called "I have life". It is the true story of a South African girl who defies death and refuses to let her attackers/rapists take her life. Chapters in the book are retold by herself, doctors who attended to her, her born again parents, and the man who found her at the side of the road. The book is very graphic and extremely disturbing in parts. I suppose it's hard to believe their can be such evil in the world!
Still want to read it?........... No seriously, it was an uplifting book on the whole. It touches on the power of prayer and prophecy, and the triumph of the human spirit.
I cried and cried as I read of her incredible strength and her parents strong faith and belief in the power of the Word of God!
Go get it!

A definate tear jerker!

Today, we finished the read-a-loud "Walk the World's Rim" by Betty Baker. I must admit it took us a while to get into it, but once we were in , we were hooked! It is a beautiful true story of Esteban, a Negro slave, who led the Spanish explorers across the New World(America) and his friendship with a Native American boy, Chakoh.
A huge lump in my throat grew as I read the last chapter, and I could not hold back my tears. Yes, I battled to read the last two pages between sobs and the comforting of my two sons! CoolDude was trying to ease my heartache and said...."Mom don't worry it's only a story!!!!" WizzKid said....."Yes Cool's, but it happens to be a true one!"

Boys MUST be boys!

I have two boys.....

Two really handsome boys who are incredibly clever, wise and mature. You might be thinking "YEH MAMMA.... Stop blowing your childrens horn!

Well I ask you....who else will !!!!!

I am reading this fanastic book by Steve Biddulph called "RAISING BOYS", and I realise that Boys have an incredible need to be affirmed and recognised! { we all do, but particularly boys)

Unfortunately there has been such an assault on men and their maleness that even our boys are feeling the brunt of it! Their self image needs a GOOD BOOST!

I read this in "Raising Boys":......

"The Media continually portrays males as rapists, murderers, or inadequate fools. So a boy may feel quite bad about himself as a masculine being. Mothers can do a lot to overcome this. I've heard beautiful comments from mothers to their sons : telling them from the age of about ten and upwards, 'Boy, you're a good looking hunk!!' when they try on their new clothes; ...... or ' The girl who marries you is going to be SO lucky, when they do a good job around the house; ........and 'I really enjoy your company', ......'You're interesting to talk to', and .....' You have a really great sense of humour'.

I want my boys to be strong....yet gentle.... courageous....yet merciful.

They need good self images.... and Mothers can do alot to help their dear sons!!!

It is such an awesome thing to raise boys!

Males have been designed by God to be pioneers that forge ahead...... to have 'hair brained schemes' that sometimes never come to anything!....And yet sometimes do!!

A male, man or boy..... needs to be part of 'a cause worth fighting for'.

Humbled, I am again.... this is a task I cannot achieve without Christ. I will rely on Him a whole lot more!
